Barry Statham Award – Information for Applicants

The Barry Statham Award is given in memory of our dear colleague, Dr. Barry Statham who died in 2012. Dr. Statham worked as a consultant dermatologist in Singleton hospital, Swansea. He specialised in Contact Dermatitis and helped to train many of the consultants working in the UK and around the world today.
The award is given to any healthcare professional or student that will use it to further the development of caring for people with skin disease in Wales.
WHO CAN APPLY?
The award is open to any healthcare professional or student such as:
- Junior doctors
- Medical students
- Nursing and healthcare students
- Nursing staff
- Healthcare support workers
- Occupational Therapists
- Physiotherapists
This list is not exhaustive and each application is considered individually. Priority will be given to applicants at junior levels.
HOW MUCH IS THE AWARD?
The award will be up to £500.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Download the application form from the website (see below) and submit via email with a short curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages). The decision will be made and you will be notified within 4 weeks of the deadline for submission.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM SUCCESSFUL?
You will receive a cheque from Skin Care Cymru for the amount. You will be expected to provide a short report on how the funds were used to benefit treatment of skin diseases in Wales and take part in a publicity photo to further awareness of the award you have benefited from.
WHAT IF I AM NOT SUCCESSFUL?
Do not be disheartened if you have not been successful this time around. You are welcome to try again in the next round as needed.
